2018 is three weeks away and many of us create goals and resolve to make changes in our lives…but by February, those resolutions are mere memories. #beentheredonethat!
It’s not that we cannot reach our goals, each of us has within us the power to do whatever it is that we desire to do. However, most of us often lack commitment because our current situations are tolerable. I heard someone say “Humans develop a system of survival built around our limitations”. That is such a true statement! I don’t know about you, but in my past, I have found comfort in discomfort by settling for a career I hated. Even today, I wear Spanx and attempt to suck in my gut when I know I need to lose weight.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe in making the best of a bad situation, but I also believe in using those circumstances to grow resiliency, to fuel your hope, and to incite determination to create a life that honors who you want to be. So, if you are tired of just surviving and are ready to thrive, let the following steps lead you to the life you want to live:
1. Assess your current situation. 2. Identify your ideal situation. 3. Establish steps to bridge your current situation to your ideal situation.
Making life changes takes time and effort but these steps will begin the process.
